Såg precis det sista avsnittet av HOTD och jag måste säga att jag är väldigt överraskad. Efter att ha läst en hel del negativa kommentarer om överdriven fanservice så gick jag in med nästintill inga förhoppningar. Känslan av hopplöshet är verkligen där från början. De inser snabbt att hela världen förmodligen redan är åt helvete och att alla de nånsin älskat (familjemedlemmar osv) förmodligen redan är döda, men ändå vägrar de ge upp hoppet. De tvingas ständigt göra saker de aldrig någonsin skulle kunna tänka sig göra annars, allt för att överleva. Det är en helgjuten grupp som har varandras rygg, hela tiden.

De små fragment av karaktärernas personligheter och bakgrunder som man får ta del av bidrar ju givetvis till helheten, men som i fallet i ganska många serier på 13 avsnitt så hinns det inte med till den grad man kanske velat. Jag kände att ju längre in i serien jag kom, ju mer brydde jag faktiskt mig om karaktärerna och deras kamp för överlevnad. Animationen är ruskigt snygg på sina ställen med ett helt okej soundtrack som leverar i lite mer känsliga scener och alla actionscener. Det var en spännande och underhållande serie i nutidens zombie-boom som exploderat helt. Därför får den också (säkert enligt många) ett högt betyg, nämligen 8/10. Kanske att jag sänker till 7 när den fått sjunka in lite mer, men absolut inte under det.

Jag skulle inte ha något emot en till säsong (vilket inte alls är omöjligt med tanke på slutet) heller.

About a year and four months ago something was born, something that would not change the world of blogging  forever. That someone was oddy555. Somehow he only stayed alive for 4 months and then a whole year and close to a month went by when the earth called again for this being. Rising from the ashes he decided to once again jump into the world of blogging. He had jumped into a new area, an area of moving out and a life at a university and with a stomach that wants more nerdy stuff than ever. A so called fresh start for this being called oddy555…

I guess I should cut it here (was it a bit funny or did it just sound arrogant?).  What I meant with the text above is simply that it’s time for a new start. Even thought my absence is mostly due to laziness, I have also been busy. The spring was full of studying to do since I did my last year in upper secondary school with projects and reports to do. And during the summer I worked alot and during fall I’ve been busy settling down at the university. But I still had time to blog in reality but I was to lazy I guess. And it’s a pity I didn’t blog cause even thought I was pretty busy last year I experienced some really awesome things.

During the last year I opened up another interest and that was toku shows(toku stands for tokusatsu check for more info here ; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokusatsu ) And my show of choice was one of the Kamen Rider shows. I really started to watch it because it looked really B and funny. But I suprised over how well the characters in the show was and when I watchede trough those 50 eps it was hard to let it go since you got this connection with all of the characters.

I watched some awesome anime to during last year. (For example Kimi ni Todoke and Welcome to the NHK that’s now two of my favorite shows).  I also read trough most of Fukumotos mangas and I really love how he handles the human minds in his works. Legend of the strongest man Kurosawa was an really awesome work that got my mind thinking about of  stuff in life.

And as I stated above I also started my university education. If I remember correctly in english I’m studying to become Master of science in computer engineering and information technology(an engineer education). Had a really wonderfull reception where we played games (the kind of games you did as a child). It was very weird and awkward in the beginning but after a while everyone was on to it and me to.

So what’s the plan for 2011 then. I don’t really have a plan but study well is one goal and I also aim to play more Visual Novels this year and I’m looking forward to that. There’s also Kimi ni Todoke 2 airing soon so I guess I have that to watch for a while to. Other than that I guess I should let the flow of life decide what I’m gonna do.

But first, I have to talk about another show that I finished watching a couple of days ago. I have finally finished watching Aria the Origination and there are a lot of reasons why it’s such a masterpiece. The music is phenomenal, the characters are better, cuter and more charming than ever. Just everything is absolutely superb and perfect in every way! I’ve been a fan of Aria since the first episode of “The Animation” and now I will never forget the wonderful world of Neo-Venezia. It is THE best anime I have ever seen. To quote a friend; “Aria-tears taste like happiness”. It’s so true, because I don’t think I’ve ever cried as much during an anime as I did with Origination. And they were all tears of pure happiness. I must get the DVD-boxes for “The Natural” and “The Origination” now, ASAP!

Kaichou wa Maid-sama. It was good, had it’s charm and a bunch of likable characters. Didn’t find it particular special, but I really enjoyed the ending. 7/10.

As for the on-going shows, Ika Musume and P&S are actually damn good. Musume got me with it’s simple, but enjoyable humour and silliness. It’s about a “Squid-girl” that plans to take over the world, but fails misarebly and is instead liked by most people around her. Cute, funny and an easy watch. P&S are on the other hand quite the opposite of Musume with it’s incredibly change of pace, craziness and lewd jokes. It’s incredibly unique and enjoyable as the main characters are a sexobsessed bitch and a goth-girl that’s kind of addicted to sweet things. They are angels who are supposed to fight ghosts to get coins so they can return to heaven as they were thrown out of there. Nothing else to say really, people should watch this if they like fast-paced, over-the-top actionscenes with a lot of crazy shit going on. All the episodes are really different and totally unpredictable. I love it!

I’ll soon continue watching Fushigi Yuugi (been on episode 38 for absolutely ages now) and WILL finish it this time. I really like it, so I got no excuse for being lazy either.

But! As we were speaking about anime, my friend started to watch an episode and something inside of me stirred. It was that sensation I sometimes get when I long for something that’ll touch me, deeply. I started watching some openings and sang along (as I always do). Let one episode run in the background while we kept on talking about stuff and then decided to actually watch a full episode of Kaichou wa Maid-sama. Logged off skype and crawled to bed to watch it. Found it amusing, funny, good and awesome in that (almost) old way I used to think. So yeah, I watched that episode and then I continued to watch the episode after that etc. Ended up watching 5 episodes straight without a pause (yeah, that’s a lot for me). Saw episode 13-15 of Kaichou and episode 8-9 of Aria The Origination. Loved every second of it so hopefully my lust for anime goodness is back. That’s all I wanted to say for now and I pretty much just wanted to tell you (all 2 of you!) that’s reading my blog that I am still writing here and haven’t forgotten about it. I should probably go to bed right now, but I can’t be bothered. Think I’m gonna watch episode 2 of The Walking Dead instead before I sleep.

Do you guys ever get that feeling when you just can’t watch anime, at all? I think it’s more common than I think, but still…

Let these girls cheer you up in the winter darkness.

Speaking of something else; I finished watching Arakawa Under The Bridge yesterday and it was… entertaining. The whole show is so hard to rate in any way since it’s so random, unique, weird and funny. At times I felt the show was going serious for a moment, but it got destroyed almost immediately by some stupid joke. I learned pretty quick to accept the show for what it was and I do have to say that I enjoyed watching it. The show is about Kou Ichinomiya, a successful businessman that ends up almost drowning, but is saved by a weird girl called Nino. Nino thinks that she is a Venusian from Venus that lives under a bridge. Nino wants a boyfriend and Kou ends up being her boyfriend that lives together with her under the bridge where he gets to meet a lot of other weird and cute characters. There’s a sadist, a young girl that is lethal, twin brothers that came from a lab, a guy with a starfish mask, a guy that thinks he’s a kappa (a creature from Japanese folklore, a river imp), a guy that is dressed as a Nun and is called “sister” and a cute girl who grows vegetables. You end up following their everyday lives with all of it’s weirdness. The show is at times funny, at times too weird, but you just can’t help falling in love with it’s charm anyway. A second season was officially announced at the end of episode 13. Yay! I’ll give it… Hmm… Hardest show ever to rate, really! Ohwell, I’ll give it 7/10 bridges.

And yeah, I know the text is in romanji, but I couldn’t be bothered to write it in hiragana. Well, anyway! I’ll do my best to spoil as little as possible. The whole anime is about a world after death where people who think their life was unfair in any way ends up in. They might have something they still want to fulfill etc. Otonashi Yuzuru, who are the main guy, ends up in this world under some circumstances (which I’m not going to explain as it is a major spoiler) without any of his memories of his previous life. As the story progresses, Otonashi ends up joining a group of rebels called SSS (Shinda Sekai Sensen) who are fighting against the unfairness of life itself and a girl called Tenshi. Tenshi is the rival of Yuri and the main enemy of SSS. She has quite a few abilities to defend herself with. I really can’t say much more about Tenshi without spoiling anything. Otonashi is thrown into major confusion at first, but starts getting a grip of the situation after a while. Yuri Nakamura, the leader of SSS, is a strong-willed and smart girl that keeps them all together in the fight against Tenshi. That sums it up pretty good I’d say! Filled with many emotions, I’d suggest bringing a box of tissues when watching Angel Beats!. I absolutely loved Angel Beats! and it has become one of my favorite shows of all time. The rate, which goes without saying, is a 10-pointer (and that is out of ten, of course! ).

Anyway, earlier tonight I finished watching Skip Beat!. It was a really good show about a really awesome girl called Kyoko. When she was smaller she lived together with Shotarou (who happens to be a famous singer). One day Kyoko hears Sho say really bad things about her which really hurt her. She decides to get her revenge on Sho through showbiz. At first she only acts with the goal of being her revenge, but the more she acts, the more she realizes that she actually loves acting. So yeah, it’s a really sweet and funny show that will make you feel for the characters and laugh out loud. I’d give this show 10/10 even though the ending could be MUCH better. I heard there’s a new season coming and that would indeed be awesome.

And while I were at it, I saw the last episode of 11eyes too. It reminded me of Chaos;Head in a good way and I found the show to be interesting. I can’t really be bothered to go into detail about the story, but if you want a pretty cool show with some fights in it and a kickass OP, this is the show for you! 8/10

A couple of days ago I bought myself a new Xbox 360 since my old one got the RLOD (which TOTALLY sucks!). While I were at it, I bought Bayonetta at the same time too. I’ve been looking forward to this game for a long time and it really is as good as I thought it would be. It’s pretty hardcore, but it doesn’t really feel unfair at all. You know that it’s all your fault for not getting good enough score on the stages etc. Plenty of replayability too since you can play the stages again to get  better items, buy all techniques and so on. I’m on the last stage at the moment, and I’ll finish it today for sure! Will probably get 9 out of 10 from me. I really love these kind of games.

Oh, and by the way! Even though it’s late, I want to wish you all a happy new year! May all your wishes come true.

Damn, it felt really good to write again. I’ll  probably do a longer post about Akagi and Darker Than Black when I finish watching them.

So finally I took the time to watch Akagi after a friend recomended it to me. And seriously this is one of the best shows I have seen. So how can a show about a board game be epic and awesome?  That is what I will tell in this review.

The show starts showing how a guy named Nangou is playing a game of Mahjong against the local yakuza. Nangou is deep debth and suddenly a teenager named Akagi barges in and after waching a couple of games he plays instead of Nangou and at that moment you can say a legend was born. So the story is simply about the ice cold Akagi who is a genius playing Mahjong. There isn’t much more to say about the story. But seriously this show is one of the most epic and suspense things I’ve seen.

Even if the story is pretty simple it’s the interaction between the characters that is awesome. Akagi is one of the most ice cold guys I’ve seen and he is awesome and always cool and collected and one of the coolest character I’ve seen. I guess interaction was wrong word because often you get to hear what the characters are thinking and how they are trying to reading each other and how they will put up their strategy. And this is one of the things that makes it awesome.

Let’s talk a bit about the animation style. I’m not lying when I say that the animation style of Akagi is very very differnet from many animes out there and I was a bit skeptical at first. But after the first episode I didn’t care anymore. And actually the style fitted very vell into the show in my opinion.

The music in Akagi was also really awesome. It isn’t any weird since it’s the same guy that did the death note soundtrack. I really loved it and the music really fitted the show. The opening was really nice and chill. The second ending was better than the first in my opinion.

So what did this anime so awesome? I would say that it was the suspense. Most of the time I wasn’t thinking of will he win but how will he will? And I really loved that kind of suspense. And I think that it got that suspense from the fact that Akagi isn’t winning by just luck and believing in the game and “moral” stuff like this. Akagi wins because of his skills. It’s all that’s to it and I really loved it.

So if you haven’t watched this show yet you should do it. Even if you never played mahjong before you will still appreciate it since they tell about many of the rules when needed to. Akagi get 5/5 riichis from me.
